Amanda G, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist
Amanda is a native of the San Diego area and grew up in the Lakeside area where she attended El Capitan high school. Amanda attended Univ of CA, Santa Barbara and obtained her B.A., in Psychology in 2019. However; it wasn’t her journey as she was pulled in a different direction and through a few opportunities she was led to becoming an OTR. One of those experiences was that she was a camp counselor with adaptive sports recreation association here in San Diego where she worked with campers presenting with CP and spina bifida with functional transfers and self care in order for them to participate in these activities.
Amanda obtained her Masters of Occupational therapy from Univ of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in San Marcos just graduating this past Aug 2022. Her pediatric fieldwork exercise though was unique as she participated at a private OT company in the SF bay area where the entire program was conducted outside in the natural environment working through social skills and individual programs created outdoors to target sensory processing and ASD. Amanda shared that this experience was so unique, challenging, exciting, and hard all at the same time! It gave her experience to become very resourceful, think on her feet, not show anxiety with clients, but to be “chill” as she helped them adapt to the environmental needs quickly and successfully.
Following her pediatric and adult field work experiences in the bay areas, she decided to return back home to begin her OTR career, in which, now she joins our team at KDA. 🙂
